Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes
Glass and ceramic can handle many everyday uses, but sudden and extreme changes in temperature can place stress on both materials.
For this reason, we do not recommend storing glass containers or ceramic tableware in the freezer unless the individual product details specifically say that it is freezer-safe.
Moving a very cold piece directly into contact with hot water or hot food may cause thermal stress. In some cases, a sudden temperature difference can lead to cracking or breakage.
The same principle applies in reverse. Avoid taking something very hot and placing it immediately somewhere extremely cold. Giving the piece a little time to return closer to room temperature is the gentler choice.
Wuli Home tip: If a glass or ceramic piece feels extremely hot or cold to the touch, let it rest for a moment before introducing the opposite temperature.
Hand Washing Helps Printed Designs Last Longer
Some glass pieces may be suitable for dishwasher use depending on their material, construction, and product instructions. When a printed design is involved, however, hand washing is still the gentler choice.
Repeated dishwasher cycles expose the surface to heat, strong detergents, and prolonged washing. Over time, this can cause printed details to fade or wear more quickly.
A soft sponge, mild dish soap, and warm water are usually enough for everyday cleaning. This approach is also kinder to the small illustrations and details that make each piece special.
Even when the glass itself is labelled dishwasher-safe, we recommend hand washing if you would like the printed design to stay looking its best for longer.
Be Gentle with Ceramic and Stainless Steel Cutlery
Ceramic is a hard material, and repeated contact with stainless steel utensils can sometimes leave dark marks behind. You may notice them more easily on matte ceramics or light cream and ivory glazes.
These marks are often metal transfer from the utensil rather than damage to the ceramic surface. Many can be reduced with gentle cleaning, especially when they are relatively new.
There is no need to be afraid of using your dishes. They are made to be enjoyed. We simply recommend avoiding unnecessary scraping or pressing stainless steel utensils heavily against ceramic surfaces.
If you have wooden or softer utensils available, your ceramic pieces may appreciate the extra gentleness.
Dry Stainless Steel After Washing
Stainless steel is wonderfully easy to care for, but water droplets can leave mineral deposits behind as they dry. These spots are generally harmless, but they can make a clean piece look cloudy or marked.
Whenever possible, give stainless steel pieces a quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth after washing. It takes only a few seconds and helps keep the finish looking cleaner between uses.
Do Not Leave Pieces Soaking for Too Long
Sometimes dishes end up sitting in the sink. We understand. As a general habit, though, it is better not to leave tableware soaking for unnecessarily long periods, especially printed pieces or stainless steel.
A normal wash with mild dish soap is usually enough. Once everything is clean, rinse it well and allow it to dry completely before storing.
Simple care tends to work better than aggressive cleaning.
Store with a Little Breathing Room
How tableware is stored matters too. When ceramic plates or bowls are stacked, repeated rubbing between surfaces can gradually create marks.
If you have pieces you particularly love, placing a thin cloth, paper liner, or soft separator between them can help. Glass pieces should be stored somewhere stable where they will not knock against each other, and stainless steel should be completely dry before being put away.
Nothing complicated, just a little less friction, moisture, and unnecessary pressure.
